JEE Main 2016

The JEE Main examination is the preliminary round of JEE examination which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The paper based test will be held on April 03, 2016 and the online test will be held on April 09 and April 10, 2016. This examination will screen the students who will appears for the JEE Advanced exam. Also, NITs and any prestigious engineering colleges take JEE Main score as their admission criteria.

JEE Advanced Cut-Off

If you are aspiring to get into IIT in India, you must crack the JEE Main examination. For going to the next level to JEE Advanced, you should have a rank 1, 50,000 in the 2016 JEE Main examination. Thorough preparation is necessary for this.

Organizing Institute of JEE Advanced 2016

This year, the paper for JEE Advanced is made by faculties from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. The paper will be available in two languages viz. English and Hindi. JEE Advanced 2016 will have two papers viz. Paper – I and Paper – II. A student who aspires to qualify this examination will have to appear for both the papers.

JEE Advanced 2016 Schedule

The JEE Advanced 2016 will be organized by IIT Guwahati on May 22, 2016. The timings of the examination will be:

  • Paper I will be a three hour duration paper which will be conducted from morning 9 to 12 noon.
  • Paper II will again be a three hour duration paper which will be conducted in the afternoon session form 2pm to 5pm.

Number of Attempts

The number of attempts permitted to any candidate for appearing in the JEE examination is restricted to two attempts. A candidate has two consecutive attempts to clear the JEE examination and get into institutions like IIT, NIT, ISM etc.

Class XII performance will be taken into account

For all the aspirants who are aspiring to secure a seat in the prestigious IIT, it is important to have a good class XII result. IIT will take into consideration only those students who satisfy the following criteria:

  • Should be in the top 20 percentile in the respective category.
  • Have secured aggregate 75% and above if the candidate is from the general or OBL-NCL category.
  • For the candidates from the SC, ST and PWD categories, the aggregate percentage required is 70%.

Syllabus of the Examination

For both JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2016 which will open the opportunity to get into top NIT and IIT in India, the prescribed syllabus is from the XI and XII standard NCERT syllabus. However, a candidate should keep in mind that high school level studies form the backbone of the syllabus prescribed for the JEE exam. Hence, a serious practice of questions in mandatory for securing a good rank in these examinations.

Tips for the Examination Paper

  • There is negative marking in JEE Advanced 2016. Refrain from guesses and attempt only if you are able to surely solve the problem.
  • Try to solve as many possible previous year papers of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. You may also take sample tests to understand the examination properly.
  • Since time is an important factor, do not spend lot of time for solving one problem.

Marking answers in JEE Advanced 2016

For marking the answers in JEE Advanced 2016, each candidate will be provided an Optical Response Sheet (ORS). It is mandatory that the candidate uses a black ball point pen to mark the answers on the ORS. Candidates are required to bubble the answer in ORS. Remember that, answers once bubbled cannot be changed. So, be cautious about marking the correct and sure answers.
